Mosaics© is a program where people struggling with autism can come learn life skills in a safe, non-judgemental classroom environment. Our unique program track was developed exclusively for us, and focuses on giving people the tools they need to succeed.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLIES©

This introductory Program highlights communication and socialization for natural use in structured activities & projects. Participants will get to know each other with utilization of “The Buddy System”, changing weekly. The Safety First Initiative will be introduced with local law enforcement members. Policemen need increased knowledge of autism to safely and effectively help or deal with individuals in the Spectrum. Those with ASD, likewise, need exposure to establish awareness and expectations.

AUTOPILOT©

Life skills in action! Instruction, repetition, and hands-on practice will be utilized to perform daily life skills and self-help skills. Independence is the word! Studies show that abilities to care for self reveal an individual’s level of independent functioning and self-sufficiency. We'll be introducing "The List Method" for use in Activities of Daily Living. Participants will become involved in community-based experiences, learning to navigate public areas and consistently asking/seeking help from people associated with experience.

FACING EMOTIONS©

This section of the learning track focuses on interpretation of social and emotional behaviors of others and increasingly appropriate reception and use of verbal/nonverbal social communication. Increased social competency will result from participation in this multi-faceted social/emotional Learning Program.

TABLE FOR TWO©

Cooking is a true life skill. This program utilizes multiple skill development before the stove is even turned on! Making decisions, compiling a list, gathering needed items in a public venue, use/exchange of money…and then the cooking begins! Participants will learn to organize, safely prepare, cook healthy meals, dispose of used material, and clean as appropriate/necessary. They will consistently be led to think of sharing such experiences. Thus, a Table for Two awaits!

THE FINISH LINE©

We will learn to “Cross the Finish Line”, leaving discrimination behind. Participants will learn to focus on visuals to begin dealing with negativity, leaving it in their wake. This Learning Program will focus on positive ways to associate with others with increased spontaneity. Given practice, participants will reciprocate with personal, practical, forthright, and, ultimately, positive conduct to mistreatment, neglect, and manipulation.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER©

Drama is an evidence-based practice with positive outcomes for individuals with ASD. This structured recreational program involves true learning experiences. Exciting, unique opportunities are offered in theatre, and increased comprehension of verbal/nonverbal language results.

WORDS INTO WORK©

We end the learning process with vital development of skills to get jobs. Participants will receive instruction and assistance, as needed, to complete a resume in an accurate manner with adequate exchange of information. Mock interviews will be given by different professionals and volunteers so participants will receive questions/exchanges that require varied, yet distinct responses. Participants will receive needed practice and/or assistance to be ready!

WORK IT OUT©

Participants must get out into the market and obtain jobs to continue on their path to increased independence. Despite a diagnosis, individuals who complete the Mosaics Learning System © will have established/enhanced reception and functional use of verbal/nonverbal and social communication. Abilities to perform Activities of Daily Living and self-help skills with maximum levels of self-sufficiency will be founded. Areas of interest will have been discovered, paired with an associated sense of responsibility and worth. Participants are ready to step out into the world and Work it Out!
